Rob Cook

Rob Cook is the founder of Rob Cook, P.A. Mr. Cook has specialized in Civil Litigation and Trial Law in the St. Augustine area since 2006. He has served as lead counsel on civil litigation for plaintiffs and defendants in personal injury, insurance claims and coverage, intellectual property/copyright infringement claims, contract disputes, real property disputes, maritime/admiralty law, property damage, federal civil litigation, business disputes. Prior opening his own practice, Rob served as lead counsel for the law firm of Vernis & Bowling of The Florida Keys P.A. Rob obtained his Juris Doctorate from Florida Costal School of Law and a BS in Political Science from Capital University.

 

George Akehurst

George Akehurst is an associate attorney with the firm. His areas of practice include products liability, personal injury, real estate law, and DUI defense.

Mr. Akehurst was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He has lived in the Jacksonville area since 1994, graduating from Nease High School in 1997, and the University of Florida in 2001. After working for several years with the Department of Homeland Defense, Mr. Akehurst attended the Jesuit, Loyola School of Law in New Orleans, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 2007.

Prior to graduating from Loyola, Mr. Akehurst worked with the Homeless Advocacy Unit of New Orleans Legal Assistance, and the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office. After graduating from Loyola, Mr. Akehurst returned to the Jacksonville area and was admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Mr. Akehurst is a member of the St. John’s County Bar Association, the Duval County Bar Association, the Clay County Bar Association, the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorney’s, and the Florida Bar Association.

 

William “Bill” Dawson, Jr.

William “Bill” Dawson, Jr. is an associate attorney with the firm. His areas of practice include personal injury, insurance defense, and contract disputes.

Mr. Dawson was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he worked as labor, and eventually as a foreman, for his family’s construction business, Red Dawson Construction Company, Inc. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Marshall University. Between his undergraduate education and law school, Bill worked as a Ski Instructor at Snowshoe Ski Resort where he received Level I certification as a Ski Instructor from the Profession Ski Instructors of America. The following summer he moved to Jacksonville, Florida to begin his legal education at Florida Coastal School of Law. While attending Florida Coastal School of Law, Bill was active in the Student Bar Association and served as Vice-President during his final year. During law school he worked several part-time jobs including: a clerkship with the Construction Industry Licensing Board, a division of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation; and a legal assistant position with a reputable Jacksonville personal injury law firm.

Following his graduation from Florida Coastal School of Law, Bill moved back to his hometown of Huntington, West Virginia where he worked as a Judicial Assistant to a local Circuit Court Judge. Following his employment as a Judicial Assistant, he moved back down to Florida where he assisted in the start-up of Rob Cook, Attorney at Law, P.A. He then gained employment as an assistant to the managing attorney at Vernis & Bowling of North Florida, P.A. Bill eventually transferred down to Vernis & Bowling of the Florida Keys, P.A. in Islamorada, Florida where he was employed as an associate attorney handling all manner of civil litigation, including personal injury, insurance defense, contract disputes, and various other legal matters. In October of 2010, Bill moved back to the greater Jacksonville area and returned to Rob Cook, Attorney at Law, P.A.

Bill is currently a member of the Florida Bar, with his membership to the West Virginia Bar pending.

Bill currently lives in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. In his spare time he enjoys going to the gym, running, biking, visits to the beach, and snow skiing.
